Bloomberg "Logic"?

Bloomberg Logic?

This absolutely amazes me! Mayor Michael Bloomberg on CNN with Piers Morgan made a statement that tells me New Yorkers must be missing a lot of common sense!

We all know Bloomberg wants to have all guns from law-abiding citizens confiscated so we can all be easy victims for criminals but now he wants the police to be just as reckless and stop protecting us! His words: “Well I would take it one step further. I don’t understand why the police officers of this country don’t stand up collectively and say, ‘We’re gonna go on strike. We’re not going to protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature do what’s required to keep us safe (ie. more gun control).’ After all police officers want to go home to their families.”

Number 1, Mr. Bloomberg, the police do not protect us now; the courts have repeatedly said protecting the public is not their responsibility! Police are called “law enforcement officers” – They are there to enforce the law, not be my personal body guard or yours! Will they put themselves in the line of fire to protect another person? You bet and thank God they are willing to do that but they usually arrive after a crime has been committed and investigate to find the perpetrator to bring them to justice.

If his first statement wasn’t stupid enough, he went on to say: “We’re doing everything we can to make their job more difficult, but more importantly more dangerous by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor piercing bullets. The only reason to have armor piercing bullets is to go through bullet resistant vests. The only people who wear bullet resistant vest are our police officers and that’s true across this whole country. So, we should at some point, we have to understand that this is our children or grandchildren or us, but for the police officers it’s much more immediate because when you and I hear shots we run away. They run towards it.”

The only people who wear bullet resistant vest are our police officers? Again, Bloomberg shows his lack of knowledge about the real world he doesn’t live in! The suspected shooter in Aurora, Colorado, was wearing body armor when arrested, along with throat and groin protection! Perhaps Mr. Bloomberg wants to wear body armor with all those guns out there he feels are attacking people – But one caveat for Bloomberg is he won’t need any head protection because there is obviously nothing there to protect!

And to the people of New York City: Obviously you have the government you deserve and how’s that working for ya?
